You're dead right. We get no premium for having an ear tag or other ID. It just wastes time and money. People know where our animals came from. They were bred, born and raised on our farm. Folks come by and see the place all the time. Nobody has every asked for papers for a pig, lamb or chick nor are they about to offer me extra money to ID the animal and make it so they have to mess with paperwork with the government.
This has nothing to do with tracking disease or premium prices. I hate to sound paranoid, but this has everything to do with control.
